we hold this precious new life we vow to protect them, to cherish them. Our minds are
filled with images of the role we will play in their lives. Dreams flood our imagination. We picture
ourselves playing with our child at the park, holding their hand on the first day of school,
reassuring them during their teen years, watching through proud eyes their achievements - graduation,
marriage, promotions, and someday hopefully experiencing the love in their eyes when
they hold their first baby.
But for some parents, their dreams are redefined for their child by the twisted
nature of fate. A devastating disease, a tragic moment. In a heartbeat, lives are turned
